Why We Should Dream

Dream   Sometimes the frustrations and failures of life cause many of us to give up our dreams. For many, when they give up on their dreams they no longer have anything to aim for and as such life become a land of despair. There are many reasons why we give up our dreams, such as: ·          Age: Sometimes we feel that we are too old to continue to have dreams and desires, but many great men and women only attain greatness later in life. ·          Lack of money: Some dreams require money to make it happen, but sometimes instead of giving up; why not work on other dreams that doesn’t require money. If you are successful at these you may earn enough to go after your more money intensive dreams. ·          Having no confidence that we really can achieve our dreams. This is a sure-fire dream killer, so find ways to develop your belief in yourself and y...

Does Freelancing Affects Your Parenting Style

A few years ago after taking a break from writing, I came back to find a manuscript I was reading for an index covered in bright colors. My son wanted to make my work pretty so he got busy not with highlighters, but with permanent markers. His reasoning was that my boss would be so happy with his work she would fire me and hire him. This way, as he saw it, I wouldn't have to be so tired all the time...Read more on the Ink'd blog .

Being Single isn’t the Worst Thing That can Happen

“Being single isn’t bad. What is bad is giving up hope on finding that someone special .” – Anonymous I have lots of friends, some single, some married, a few are in-between relationships, while others are ‘kind of single’. What I’ve found is that many of my single friends are always seeking that special someone. There is nothing wrong with that, but settling just to be with someone is definitely not the way.  Some reasons why being single are not the worst thing that can happen: You see that couple that you admire so much? You just may never know that behind closed doors they are like strangers. That husband/boyfriend/lover you see holding the car door for her, may just be the one beating her when you cannot see That adoring wife, may be the most disrespectful person ever when no one sees or hears Ever wonder why your friend has no time for you? It may not be that she or he is so smitten they don’t like to leave each other’s side, it’s because he or she is forbi...

Being Grateful and Never Giving Up

I've found that with practice you can learn to appreciate life with all its valleys and hills. Yet, being miserable and unhappy is such an easy thing. Being human we tend to take the easy road…and for many that means being unhappy and thinking that life is just too hard. Over the weekend my son, Jalen made the statement that life is neither hard or easy, its just weird. I told him I was just thinking about life and that we just have to make the most of it. In true 9-years old going on 90 he said, " I'm not going to make the most of life, life better make the most of me. There'll never be anyone else just like me. I'm special and crazy and unique ." That statement got me thinking. There I was worrying about income, bills and everything in between and questioning why life had to be so hard. As if to take me out of my funk even more, I read the following from Sid Savara , “ It takes a lot to win at this thing we call life. But it takes even more to lose ....

Choice-Chance-Change – Transforming Your Life

Earth in Hands of Potter by Dan Such simple words and yet they can be so powerful. Have you ever been faced with choices but you were afraid to take a chance? Sometimes, being brave enough to take a chance can change your life for the better. If you really think about it, these everyday words can hold such sway over whether we succeed or fail. Let’s take them individually, starting first with the definition from The Free Dictionary : CHOICE: The power, right or liberty to choose (make a selection) The ‘power’ to decide what to do, how to act: Isn’t it a great thing that you can wield this power and that you have the ‘liberty’ to make a selection about your life? This is by no means easy for everyone, but just thinking about it can be real heady feeling. Of course, no one ...

Coming Up Blank – Combating that Feeling of Not Knowing What to Write

As a writer, it is never a good thing to come up blank – nada -nothing to put down on paper or the computer screen. When this happens, it does not mean that I have no ideas, sometimes, I have too many and nothing is coming together. Finding a way around this jumble of thoughts that make writing difficult is not always easy and the same solutions don’t always work either. Steps in Beating Writer's Block Some of the ways I deal with coming up blank are: Stepping away from the writing for a while; it doesn’t always make sense to push it Sometimes I just start writing, like now, and the words begin to flow. At times like this I don’t always know what I will be writing about, but I just write. When I am finished, I may have an article down or have fleshed out a story. Sometimes it’s just ideas to use on another day Change the focus of what I was writing, so if I’m on a research heavy article for a client, I may switch to one of my novels or a poem Reading or watching a movie or ...
